The Dead Weather
Same ‘ole story with the Glass House, they won’t let you in with a “pro” camera so I took my Canon G9, which is a rough ride with anything over ISO 800. Funny how I can’t take in a camera that has removable lenses but anyone can take in the latest video recorder and film the entire show. No biggie though, I was really excited to see this band so I didn’t spend my entire evening taking photos. The gig was lit almost exclusively with blue lights in front and backlit with bright whites so it was hard getting anything good from the back. I didn’t want to be one of those concert-goers who fights his way to the front so I opted to get grainy photos from the back. After seeing the photos I should have been one of those guys because the photos would have been a lot better without having to zoom in on every shot – oh well…
We got into the venue minutes before The Dead Weather started because we were drinking next door with some friends and missed the openers, which I very rarely do, but it has been happening more often than I’d like lately so it is time to start going to gigs by myself. Every time it is a group thing I always end up getting to the shows later than I’d like. Anyway, the gig was dark, crowded, sweaty, great sound, pretty energetic, a ton of people filming with their phones and camcorders, and quite a few trendies – you know what I mean by Trendies, right?
Anyway, there are a couple of great performances by The Dead Weather on YouTube from the Jimmy Kimmel Show – Check ‘em out and you will be an instant fan if you are not already. ‘nough said…
