  • Venue Review: The Glass House
Not much to say other than the venue is somewhat close to my house, the sound is okay, the parking is somewhat convenient but the stage lighting could be a little brighter. I’ve seen some great shows at this venue throughout the years and the bar next door is pretty damn nice – check it out if you are in the area.

  • 1st band Review: Dawes
An Indie band from North Hills, CA who has a country’ish rock sound. Pretty mellow stuff but a great soundtrack for one of those days when you feel like you should be depressed but have nothing to be depressed about. Their music can heal the on-the-road post argument silence that usually occurs when you have nothing to be mad about but still haven’t made up. I could easily see them on the same bill as The Drive By Truckers or My Morning Jacket. They were a good fit for the Jenny Lewis band as well although a more quaint venue with a bar would have been more fitting. You can check out their songs at…

  • 2nd band Review: Jenny Lewis
What can I say here that hasn’t already been said about Jenny and her band? They are a solid group that plays both technically well and with emotion – not many can say that and truly mean it. The night was filled songs from her solo career as well as some Rilo Kiley songs peppered in the mix. The highlight of the evening came during an acoustic solo version of “Rabbit Fur Coat” and Jenny forgets the words. Not only was it a beautiful version but immediately after someone throws a stuffed toy rabbit on stage. I have the whole song on video and maybe one day I’ll post it here. This was a 5 out of 5 stars performance. Buy anything she puts out as you are guaranteed to be buying some great music and a great voice. Nuff said…
