Reviews, Comments & Other Putdowns for this event (by Ray)

Went out to Tarzana to check out some rock. It was quite the drive but ended up being pretty fun. I ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in many years so it was good catching up and taking some photos.
  • Venue Review: Paladinos
Cool place for rock & roll. The staff is friendly and pretty much leaves you alone. Large stage, decent lights, good sound and a great layout for every type of concert-goer. There’s a place for those who want to be up front with the action as well as dark pockets for those who want to sit back and watch the show without being a part of the drunken shenanigans. I would come out here more often but I live an hour+ away… Bottom line is that it is one of the few places left where you can see local as well as international rock bands.

  • Breakin’ The Law:
This was my first time seeing a Priest cover/tribute band so I was excited to hear some of the music that got me through high school. I would categorize these guys as a band who are more fans of Priest than a true tribute to the band. They were not great but you could tell they enjoyed the music and picked songs that would satisfy most of the group’s fans. The vocals are really what make Judas Priest and this was the part that was lacking. I’m not saying the singer had bad pipes but Halford’s shoes are REALLY hard to fill so there was a lot missing – mostly all the high notes. It didn’t really matter though, it was just good to hear some Priest. Thanks guys…

I was not able to find a link to this band. If you have one, send it to me or Comment below and I’ll post it.

  • Prohibition Rose:
Tight band who really seemed to enjoy what they do. The main reason I wanted to check out this band is because they list the band ‘Failure’ as one of their influences, which if you know anything about me you will know that namedropping that band will get my attention every time. They reminded me of a cross between the Vegas band Hostage Symphony mixed with the LA band Firebug. Good stuff! Check out their MySpace for some music…

  • Iron Maidens:
The band came out and kicked ass, as usual. They sounded great and put together a fun set but I don’t recall hearing anything from Killers or Fear of the Dark, which didn’t really make a difference. I was hoping for a lengthy version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner but that will have to wait for another day. Nuff said…
